Neon’s

I was admitted to join a monastery for 30 days at the beginning of the 2010. I lived as a monk during this whole time. It was a blissful month of silence and solitude. I can’t recommend living in silence enough. It is truly an amazing experience. God really does speak in the silence. On the way back home from there I found another set of neon lights in a building in Indiana. This time I not only was swinging the camera with my arm from left to right, but I also was twisting my hand in that motion as well as spinning around on my feet, too. The following images are the results. Again, if you look at any 1/4 of any image you will see what the original photo looks like in my camera. Then I mirrored and flipped each image and digitally stitched them together for the final version (I added the black oval frame on most of them because it seemed to make them look better that way).

I was at O”hare Airport going to Denver in July ’09. As you cross over from Terminal 1 to Terminal 3 you go through a tunnel underneath the Airport. The ceiling along the tunnel flashes with multi-colored curvy shaped neon lights. They’re pretty cool to look at in and of themselves. I played around with my camera settings and spent about an hour panning my camera back and forth, taking 100′s of shots. Then I took the best images from that session and started tweeking them on my computer. After that I mirrored and flipped each image 3 times and saved those. Then I stitched all four images together to make one individual, really cool looking shot. This is why they’re all symmetrical. If you look at any 1/4 of an image, you’ll get an idea of what the original photograph looked like. Thanks for stopping by.
